This guide covers the whole flow on every device, including the Cookie step that trips up most first-time users. Douyin — the Chinese version of TikTok — does not hand out video files to anonymous requests, so one extra setup step is required before downloads work.
Understand the Cookie Step First
Douyin serves video URLs only to a logged-in session. That is a platform rule, not a limitation of this tool. Two consequences:
- Without a Cookie, most Douyin links return an error instead of a file. Public posts occasionally work, but you cannot rely on it.
- With your own Cookie, the request looks like your normal browsing session, so the platform returns the file — usually at a higher quality than an anonymous request would get.
Your Cookie is stored in your own browser and sent only with the requests that need it. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.
Step 1: Set Up Your Douyin Cookie
- Install the Cookie-Editor extension in Chrome or Edge
- Sign in to douyin.com in that same browser
- Click the Cookie-Editor icon, then Export, then Export as JSON
- Open the Cookie panel on this page and paste the JSON
- Click Save — the status line should read “Cookie configured”
You only need to repeat this when the Cookie expires, which typically happens after a few weeks.
Step 2: Copy the Douyin Link
In the Douyin app, tap Share on the video, then Copy Link. What lands on your clipboard is usually a whole sentence — a caption, hashtags, and a short v.douyin.com URL. Paste all of it; the link is extracted from the text. Both of these forms work:

Step 3: Paste and Download
Paste into the input box at the top of this page and click Download. The tool expands the short link, fetches the post, and shows a preview card. Click the download button on the card to save the file.
Device-Specific Instructions
iPhone / iPad
- Paste the link in Safari
- Tap the download button and confirm the download
- Open the Files app → Downloads
- Tap and hold the file → Move → choose Photos (or save to Camera Roll from the share sheet)
Android
- Paste the link in Chrome or Samsung Internet
- Tap the download button
- The file appears in Downloads and is normally picked up by the Gallery automatically
Windows
- Open Edge, Chrome, or Firefox
- Paste the link and download
- The browser puts the file in your Downloads folder, or asks where to save it
macOS
- Paste the link in Safari or Chrome
- Download
- The file lands in Downloads — drag it anywhere from there
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Error mentioning authentication, and no Cookie is configured | Douyin refused the anonymous request | Configure your Douyin Cookie (Step 1) |
| It worked before, now it fails | Expired Cookie | Re-export a fresh Cookie from douyin.com |
| “This link could not be resolved to a video” | Link copied without the video ID, or the post was deleted or set to private | Copy the link again from the Share menu |
| Nothing downloads after clicking | Browser blocked the download | Check the browser’s download or pop-up indicator in the address bar |
